CampusCast ("we," "us," or "our") operates campus-cast.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using CampusCast you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Account registration: name, email address, password (stored as a bcrypt hash)
• Profile information: bio, profile photo, location, resume, reel, headshot, gender, age range, ethnicity, height, languages, education, major, social media links (Instagram, LinkedIn, IMDb), credits, portfolio, and contact details you choose to share
• Project and role listings you create
• Applications you submit, including cover letters and uploaded media
• Messages sent through the platform
• Contact form submissions

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data via Google Analytics 4 (pages visited, session duration, device type, approximate location at the city level). Google Analytics data is pseudonymous and does not directly identify you.
• A session cookie used solely to keep you logged in (see our Cookie Policy)
• Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL) retained briefly for security and debugging

2. Sensitive Personal Information

Certain profile fields — including ethnicity, gender, and age range — are optional and exist solely to help casting directors make accurate casting decisions. You are never required to provide this information, and it is visible only to other registered users for casting purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and maintain your account
• To display your profile to other registered users for casting and collaboration
• To send transactional emails (email verification, password resets, notification emails you opt into)
• To respond to contact form submissions
• To analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve the platform
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your data only with the following third-party services necessary to operate the platform:

• Supabase (PostgreSQL) — database hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase-managed servers.
• Vercel — hosting and file storage (Vercel Blob). Uploaded files (photos, resumes, reels) are stored via Vercel.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics.

All third-party providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes. We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, applications, messages, and uploaded files will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Contact us via the contact form to request account deletion.

6. Your Rights (California Residents — CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

7. Children's Privacy

CampusCast is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account and delete their data promptly.

8. Security

Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing. Sessions are transmitted over HTTPS only. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
